Rescue Operation Underway in Vadodara Boat Capsize Incident

A search and rescue operation is currently underway after a boat capsized in Harni Motnath Lake in Vadodara, causing deaths of twelve school children and two teachers on Thursday.

The official stated that a missing report will be filed on Friday at 10 am following the completion of the search operation.

Jaideep Gadhavi, Sub Fire Officer at Vadodara Fire and Emergency Services, informed ANI that they received information about the boat capsizing and were able to rescue 20 people, but unfortunately, 14 individuals, including two teachers, lost their lives.

Two teams from Vadodara Fire Service are on standby at the incident site. Eight rescue teams were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the alert. The Vadodara Rescue Team also arrived promptly with eight teams.

The search operation is currently ongoing, aided by an underwater camera. Efforts are being made to identify some of the children based on their belongings. The missing report will be filed at 10 am once the search is completed.

Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his condolences for the lives lost in this tragedy and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his condolences and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of each deceased individual. The injured will receive Rs 50,000.

The Gujarat Government has also announced Rs 4 lakhs for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
