New Delhi, 29th Oct: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 1, 2025, where he will deliver an address on “Reflection on 15 Years of ADMM-Plus and Charting the Way Forward.”
On the sidelines, the ASEAN-India Defence Ministers’ Informal Meeting will be held on October 31, chaired by Malaysia, with participation from Defence Ministers of all ASEAN member states. The meeting will focus on deepening defence and security cooperation between India and ASEAN, further advancing the ‘Act East Policy’.
During his two-day visit, the Raksha Mantri is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from ADMM-Plus nations and senior Malaysian officials to discuss regional and global defence priorities.
The ADMM serves as ASEAN’s highest defence consultative and cooperative mechanism. The ADMM-Plus, which includes ASEAN nations along with India, the US, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, aims to enhance regional security and strategic cooperation.
India became an ASEAN Dialogue Partner in 1992, and the first ADMM-Plus was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2010. Since 2017, it has been convened annually to bolster multilateral defence collaboration.
Under the ADMM-Plus framework, India currently co-chairs the Experts Working Group on Counter-Terrorism with Malaysia (2024–2027) and is set to participate in the second ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise in 2026.
