In a video message, the Defence Minister described Lt Gen Sinha as a great soldier, diplomat and administrator who always placed the nation above everything else. He recalled Sinha’s role in representing India on the Burma front during the Second World War and his crucial contribution in coordinating the first airlift of the Indian Army to Srinagar in 1947, when Pakistan-backed forces advanced towards Kashmir.
Rajnath Singh also lauded Sinha’s professionalism and his efforts to strengthen institutional thinking in the Army during his tenures as Director of Military Intelligence, Adjutant General and in various command roles. He added that Sinha’s service continued after retirement, noting his work as India’s Ambassador to Nepal and later as Governor of Assam and Jammu & Kashmir, where he focused on security and development.

Former Army Chiefs Gen N C Vij, Gen Deepak Kapoor and Gen Dalbir Singh, Vice Chief of the Army Staff Lt Gen P P Singh, and around 300 serving and retired personnel and family members of Lt Gen Sinha were present at the event.
