Railways to Run 12,000 Special Trains for Festive Season

New Delhi, 20th Aug: In a major announcement for the upcoming festive season, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated on Wednesday that the Indian Railways will operate more than 12,000 special trains across the country to manage the holiday rush. The new services are planned for the Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals.

The Minister also announced a new Vande Bharat Express and four new Amrit Bharat Express trains specifically for Bihar. The new Vande Bharat train will run between Purnia and Patna. The new Amrit Bharat trains will connect Gaya to Delhi, Saharsa to Amritsar, Chhapra to Delhi, and Muzaffarpur to Hyderabad.

Under a new policy, passengers traveling between October 13-26 will receive a 20% discount on their return fare if they also travel between November 17-December 1, along with a confirmed ticket.

To handle the additional festive crowds, South Western Railway (SWR) has also announced several special trains from Yesvantpur and SMVT Bengaluru to various destinations.
