Darbhanga, 4th Nov: On the final day of campaigning for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a massive public rally in Jale, Darbhanga. Launching a fierce attack on the Opposition, Shah targeted Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he had undertaken a “Save Infiltrators Yatra” during his visit to Bihar two and a half months ago.

“Lalu Yadav and Rahul Gandhi want to save infiltrators. The BJP will identify and remove infiltrators from the country one by one,” Shah declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

The Home Minister accused the Opposition of attempting to bring back the era of “jungle raj” under Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. “Bihar has already witnessed 15 years of jungle raj. The NDA’s priority is to prevent its return and make Darbhanga a developed district. Press the lotus button and strengthen this vision,” he urged voters.

Highlighting the welfare schemes implemented under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Shah said that over 3.60 crore people in Bihar have received free medical treatment worth up to ₹5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He also mentioned the inauguration of Bihar’s second IT Park in Darbhanga by PM Modi, which he said would create new employment opportunities for the youth in Mithila.

Referring to women’s empowerment, Shah said that ₹10,000 had been credited to the bank accounts of 1.41 crore Jeevika Didi beneficiaries through the combined efforts of Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “Lalu Yadav’s party wants to take that money back, but neither he nor his next three generations can do it,” he asserted, promising that if the NDA is re-elected, ₹2 lakh will be deposited in Jeevika accounts over the next five years.

Shah also accused previous governments of large-scale corruption, listing multiple scams allegedly linked to Lalu Yadav, including the fodder scam, land-for-job scam, hotel sale scam, bitumen scam, flood relief scam, recruitment scam, and AB Export scam. He claimed that the Congress was involved in corruption amounting to ₹12 lakh crore, contrasting it with what he described as a clean record under Modi and Nitish Kumar.

The Election Commission has scheduled the Bihar Assembly elections in two phases on November 6 and 11, with vote counting on November 14. The NDA, comprising the BJP and JD(U), will face the I.N.D.I.A bloc led by Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, CPM, and Mukesh Sahani’s VIP. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has also announced candidates on all 243 seats in the state.
