Rahul Gandhi’s Visit to Guwahati Marred by Controversy

New Delhi, 24th Jan.
With the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra led by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, controversy has flared up once more in Guwahati, Assam. Congressmen’s reluctance to leave the city led to a major altercation with the police on Tuesday. His travel is prohibited within the city, according to the administration, even though Rahul Gandhi traveled within it. This was the cause of the later roadblocks set up by the police, which led to altercations between the Congressmen escorting Rahul Gandhi’s bus and the police. Police pulled over Congressmen

Approximately 5,000 Congressmen, led by Rahul Gandhi, were prevented by police as they attempted to enter Guwahati. Just before they entered the city, these people were halted. To stop them, numerous police units have been sent out. After the Congressmen’s outcry, there have also been reports of police lathicharge. The police operation has also resulted in injuries to many workers and leaders of Congress.

The police administration has stated this.

According to the Congress, the police lathi charge also caused injuries to Assam State President Bhupen Kumar Bora and Assembly Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia. The police administration claims that this was done in response to Congress workers beginning to take down the barriers that had been put up to keep people from entering Guwahati city. The Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra had previously been prohibited from leaving Guwahati’s main route by the Himanta Biswa Sarma government. The authorities announced that Tuesday was a working day and that, should the Yatra be permitted; there will be traffic jams throughout the entire city.

In Guwahati, entry authorization was denied

The Assam government had stated that Congress ought to travel along the National Highway rather than the major Guwahati route. It was instructed to Congressmen to travel to Guwahati via National Highway 27, which resembles a ring road. Congressmen taking part in the march claimed that, for ludicrous reasons, the administration had not granted them permission to enter Guwahati. Thus, there was a disagreement between the Congress and BJP about the Yatra once more. Conflict also erupted earlier on Monday when Rahul Gandhi was prevented from entering a mandir. Subsequently, every leader, including Jairam Ramesh and Rahul Gandhi, took to the roadside and began to sing Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram.

Congress said: “The government is afraid of Rahul Gandhi’s visit”

Rahul Gandhi’s visit is being thwarted, because Himanta Biswa Sarma’s government is afraid of him, according to the Congress. “The nation’s most dishonest Chief Minister has been attacking our convoy nonstop since our arrival in Assam,” the Congress stated. This is being done with his goons. Rahul Gandhi wished to visit the shrine of the highly revered Vaishnav saint Srimanta Sankardev in Assam. However, Himanta Biswa Sarma had already stated that Rahul Gandhi shouldn’t go to the mandir prior to the Ayodhya Pran Pratistha ritual.

Rahul was prevented from visiting the Batadrava mandir

Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that if Rahul Gandhi goes to Batadrava mandir before consecrating Ram mandir in Ayodhya, then the right message will not be sent. This will put the Ram Temple and the Batadrava Temple in competition with one another. If this happened, it would be detrimental to Assam. In addition, Congress was informed by the temple committee that admission would not be permitted prior to 3 p.m. Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders were halted on their route after this. Subsequently, all of the leaders took a seat on the street and began to adore God by singing bhajans.

A New Phase in Which the BJP Selects Who Visits the Mandir

The BJP, however, was criticized by some Congress leaders who said, “We have entered a new phase of democracy where the BJP will decide who should go to a mandir and at what time.”

Meanwhile Jairam Ramesh wrote, “In this country ‘Cameracharya’ cannot decide who will go to which temple and what time.”

Ramesh has provided the “chronology” of events leading up to Gandhi’s denial of entry into the mandir.

There is debate on why congressmen should act in such a stubborn manner. Why should they deny them if a state decides on certain protocols and guidelines? This demonstrates their purposeful intention to subjugate the state administration.
