New Delhi, 18th Feb: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, calling him “the most dangerous person for India’s security” and accusing him of links with anti-India forces.
In an interview with ANI, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister alleged that Gandhi meets extremists, Maoists, and ideologues who are hostile to India. He said the country had never seen such a Leader of the Opposition before.
Commenting on disruptions during the recent Parliament session, Rijiju said noise and commotion are part of parliamentary democracy, but actions taken inside the House must also be judged. He said that when his party was in the opposition, it did not throw papers at the Speaker or carry banners to the ruling benches.
He described Gandhi’s conduct as “childish and irresponsible” for someone in the position of Leader of the Opposition. Rijiju said the LoP represents the entire opposition and should act with greater maturity.
Referring to Gandhi’s recent exchanges in Parliament and remarks involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the minister said allegations should be backed by evidence rather than speculation.
Rijiju also commented on recent statements by senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, saying the Congress once had mature leaders but had changed over time. He said the party continues with the same leadership despite repeated electoral defeats, adding that such a situation would not be acceptable in the BJP.
