Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi reaffirmed his backing for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday, asserting Yadav’s pivotal role in steering Bihar’s political trajectory. The support came during their joint participation in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Bihar.

Tejashwi Yadav, the former deputy CM of Bihar, joined Rahul Gandhi for the Yatra, which has traversed the state over five days across two phases. Their collaboration culminated in a vibrant roadshow in Sasaram, Rohtas district, where Yadav, after a warm exchange with Gandhi, assumed the driver’s seat of a red car symbolizing their shared commitment to Bihar’s welfare.

The duo engaged with farmers during the Yatra’s ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’, a platform amplifying agricultural concerns. While Rahul Gandhi aimed his criticism at the Modi government, Tejashwi Yadav directed his ire towards Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, highlighting the latter’s contentious departure from the Mahagathbandhan alliance.

Amidst chants of “Palturam (Mr. Turncoat)” from the crowd, Yadav underscored Nitish Kumar’s ideological shifts, lamenting his abrupt return to the NDA fold, which undermined the RJD’s strategic sacrifices. Reminiscing about their previous alliance, Yadav emphasized their collaborative efforts in steering Bihar towards economic rejuvenation.

“I refrain from resorting to derogatory language, unlike some,” stated Yadav, alluding to his principled stance amidst political discourse. “However, Nitish ji owes the public an explanation for his volte-face, having previously vowed allegiance to a different path,” he added, underscoring the public’s demand for transparency regarding Kumar’s political realignment.
