New Delhi, 19th April.
As the curtains rose on the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls on Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi issued a poignant call to voters, urging them to uphold democracy and establish ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ (the shop of love) across the nation by triumphing over hatred.

In a message shared in Hindi on ‘X’, Gandhi emphasized the pivotal role of every individual’s vote in shaping the future of India’s democracy and the generations to come.

“Today marks the beginning of the voting process! Remember, your vote holds the power to chart the course of our democracy and the destiny of our nation,” he expressed.

Encouraging citizens to participate actively in the electoral process, Gandhi urged them to heal the wounds inflicted on the nation’s soul over the past decade by exercising their voting rights.

“Step out and strengthen our democracy by using your vote to soothe the scars that have marred the spirit of our nation,” he urged.

Additionally, the Congress leader shared a graphic outlining the key guarantees promised by the Congress party to the people, including the assurance of apprenticeship rights, legal protection for Minimum Support Price (MSP), and the implementation of a nationwide caste census.

The commencement of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls witnessed polling across 102 seats spanning 21 states and Union territories. Notable figures in the electoral fray include Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Bhupendra Yadav, alongside prominent leaders like Gaurav Gogoi of the Congress, Kanimozhi of the DMK, and K Annamalai of the BJP.

Simultaneously, Assembly elections are also being conducted in Arunachal Pradesh (60 seats) and Sikkim (32 seats), adding to the electoral fervor gripping the nation.

As the BJP-led NDA seeks to consolidate its position under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, opposition constituents of the INDIA bloc aim for a resurgence following setbacks in previous elections.
