Rahul Gandhi Alleges ‘Election Theft Conspiracy’ in Bihar

Bhubaneswar, 11th July: Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of “hatching a conspiracy” to facilitate “chunav chori” (election theft) in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.

Speaking at the Samvidhan Bachao Samavesh rally in Bhubaneswar, Gandhi alleged that the EC is functioning as a “wing of the BJP” and is complicit in a plan to manipulate the electoral process in Bihar, similar to what he claimed happened in Maharashtra last year.

“BJP is attacking the Constitution. Yesterday I was in Bihar. Just like ‘chunav chori’ was done in Maharashtra, similar attempts are being made in Bihar. EC has hatched a new conspiracy. It is no longer doing its duty — it is working as a BJP wing,” Gandhi told the gathering.

The Congress leader referenced the Maharashtra Assembly elections, where the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi suffered major setbacks. He alleged that over 1 crore new voters were mysteriously added between the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, raising questions about transparency.

“Nobody knows who these voters were or where they came from. We repeatedly asked the Election Commission for the voter list and videography, but they never responded,” he claimed.

Gandhi warned that similar manipulation is now underway in Bihar. “I went to Bihar yesterday and, along with INDIA alliance leaders, said we will not allow BJP and EC to steal the Bihar elections.”

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks come amid rising political temperatures in Bihar as the state gears up for its Assembly polls. The ECI recently announced a special electoral roll revision exercise in the state, drawing criticism from opposition parties who view the move with suspicion.

The Congress party and the INDIA bloc are expected to intensify their campaign against the BJP, framing it as a battle for protecting democracy and the Constitution — a narrative Gandhi strongly reinforced in today’s speech.
