New Delhi, 27th Feb. February 26, 2024, marked a significant occasion at the Amrit Udyan in Rashtrapati Bhavan as a day-long ‘Purple Fest’ unfolded, drawing attention to disability awareness and inclusion efforts across India.
The esteemed presence of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, illuminated the event as she graced the cultural performances by Divyangjan, underscoring the essence of inclusivity.
Following the vibrant displays, President Murmu engaged in heartfelt interactions with Divyangjan, emphasizing the importance of understanding and acceptance.
A myriad of activities awaited the attendees, including ‘Know your disabilities’, ‘Purple Cafe’, ‘Purple Kaleidoscope’, ‘Purple Live Experience Zone’, and ‘Purple Sports’, providing immersive experiences and insights into the diverse world of disabilities.
Notably, over 14,000 individuals actively participated in the festivity, showcasing a widespread commitment to fostering inclusivity.
Organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, the ‘Purple Fest’ embodies a noble mission to raise awareness about various disabilities and their profound impacts on individuals’ lives. Moreover, it champions the imperative of promoting understanding, acceptance, and the integration of persons with disabilities into every facet of society.
