Chandigarh, 19th Aug: In a minor cabinet reshuffle, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has transferred the Power department from Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh to Sanjeev Arora, who also holds the portfolio of Industry and Commerce.

Following the change, Harbhajan Singh is now left with only the Public Works Department. Sanjeev Arora, meanwhile, has become a minister with four portfolios, including Power, Industry and Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs.

Sources within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suggest that the reshuffle sends a strong message from the Chief Minister. It highlights the growing influence of Sanjeev Arora, who is gradually becoming a power centre within the government.

Arora was elected as an MLA after winning the Ludhiana West by-election on June 19, which was seen as a litmus test for the ruling AAP. He was inducted into the cabinet in July. During the previous cabinet expansion, Kuldeep Dhaliwal was removed from his ministerial post, and his sole portfolio of NRI Affairs was also given to Arora. Additionally, the Industry and Commerce and Investment Promotion portfolios, which were previously held by Tarunpreet Singh Sond, were also allocated to Arora.
