Ahmedabad, 21st Aug: Protests against the murder of a Class 10 student at a private school in Ahmedabad continued on Friday, with the student wing of the opposition Congress clashing with police. Several members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) were detained after trying to storm the school premises, demanding it be shut down. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) also staged protests, leading to the closure of over 200 schools in the area.

The protests followed a mob ransacking the Seventh-Day Adventist School premises on Thursday after the victim, Nayan Santani, was fatally stabbed by a junior during a scuffle on Tuesday.

The victim’s family has made a serious allegation against the school administration, claiming it did not call an ambulance on time and instead summoned a water tanker to wash away the bloodstains in an alleged attempt to destroy evidence. Police have launched an investigation into the family’s claims of negligence and evidence tampering. The school has not issued an official response to the allegations.

In response to the vandalism, the school administration has filed a police complaint. Over 500 people have been booked for rioting, assault, and causing damage. Meanwhile, the accused minor remains in custody under the Juvenile Act. He had confessed to the crime in a chilling Instagram chat with a friend, which has since gone viral.
