Gandhinagar, 10th Oct: President Droupadi Murmu visited Gujarat today, commencing her engagements with Darshan and Puja at the Somnath Temple.

She also paid floral tributes at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel near the temple.

Following her visit to Somnath, the President travelled to Gir National Park and interacted with the local tribal communities at Sasan Gir. During the interaction, she encouraged tribal people to explore all avenues for progress and emphasized the importance of providing quality education to their children. She praised the Siddi tribal community, noting that their literacy rate has crossed 72 percent.

Highlighting government initiatives for tribal welfare, President Murmu urged the communities to actively engage with developmental and welfare schemes, not only for personal benefit but also to connect and uplift their villages and communities. She commended the nature-friendly lifestyle of tribal communities as an inspiration for society at large.
The President further stated that active participation of tribal communities is vital to building an equitable and just society where their culture and traditions are preserved, and their rights protected. She underlined that such efforts are essential for making India a developed nation by 2047.
