Ayodhya, 19th March: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya and offered prayers to Ram Lalla, marking a significant spiritual occasion on the first day of Navratri.
During her visit, the President performed darshan and aarti at various locations within the temple complex and carried out the Shri Ram Yantra Sthapana and pujan rituals.
Describing the visit as a moment of deep reverence, Murmu said it was her privilege to be in Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, which also marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year.
She highlighted the historical milestones associated with the temple, including the Bhoomi Pujan, Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla, and the opening of the Ram Darbar, calling them “golden moments” in India’s cultural and civilisational journey.
Emphasising the vision of a developed and inclusive India, the President said that the ideals of Ram Rajya offer a guiding framework for nation-building. “By adhering to the ideals of Ram Rajya, we will be able to build a nation founded upon morality and righteous conduct,” she said.
Murmu noted that Ram Rajya symbolises not only economic prosperity but also social harmony, where no one is deprived or marginalised. She referred to the teachings of Goswami Tulsidas to underline the values of equality, compassion and moral integrity.
The President also said that India is witnessing a renaissance across economic, social, political and cultural spheres, and urged citizens to move forward with unity and a shared sense of purpose.
Calling for collective participation in nation-building, she said that devotion to Lord Ram should inspire a spirit of inclusiveness and fraternity among all sections of society.
