New Delhi, 29th Aug: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday presented the SCOPE Eminence Awards 2022-23 in New Delhi, commending the crucial role of Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) in driving India’s economic growth, social upliftment, and technological innovation.

Speaking at the event, the President described the awards as a recognition of PSEs’ contribution across economic, social, environmental, and ethical dimensions. She praised the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) for honoring excellence in sustainable development, corporate governance, CSR, and innovation, terming it a holistic approach to nation-building.

Highlighting the transformation of PSEs since independence, President Murmu said they had been the backbone of industrialisation, infrastructure, and inclusive growth, while also adapting to evolving national needs. She stressed that Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) will remain key players in India’s journey to become a developed nation by 2047.

She particularly noted their role in critical initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, citing the indigenous Air Defence Control and Reporting System Akashteer used in Operation Sindoor as a proud achievement of India’s public sector fraternity.

President Murmu underlined that CPSEs are not only economic engines but also catalysts of innovation, transparency, and ethical governance, playing a decisive role in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, processing, energy, and services.

The SCOPE Eminence Awards, instituted by SCOPE, honor the remarkable contributions of PSEs to India’s growth story.
