New Delhi, 23rd March: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday called for a united and determined effort to eliminate tuberculosis, in her message on the eve of World Tuberculosis Day.
Highlighting the global burden of the disease, the President said tuberculosis continues to remain a serious public health challenge, affecting millions of lives worldwide.
She, however, noted that India has made steady progress under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, particularly in expanding early diagnosis, ensuring free treatment, strengthening nutritional support, and improving patient care.
Murmu said these achievements reflect the strength of the National TB Elimination Programme and the country’s commitment to tackling the disease.
“I urge all stakeholders to work together with collective resolve to end tuberculosis once and for all,” she said.
World Tuberculosis Day, observed annually on March 24, aims to raise awareness about the impact of TB and mobilise efforts towards its elimination globally.
