New Delhi, 15th Dec: President of India Droupadi Murmu on Monday administered the Oath of Office to Raj Kumar Goyal as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of the Central Information Commission.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 11:00 am, marking the formal assumption of office by Goyal. With this, he takes charge as the head of the Central Information Commission, the apex body responsible for adjudicating matters related to the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

The Central Information Commission plays a crucial role in promoting transparency, accountability and good governance by ensuring effective implementation of the RTI framework across central public authorities.

Raj Kumar Goyal’s appointment comes at a time when the Commission continues to handle a large volume of RTI appeals and complaints, reinforcing citizens’ right to access information and strengthening democratic oversight of public institutions.
