Srinagar, 11th Oct. President Droupadi Murmu paid tribute to the fallen soldiers at the Army headquarters on Wednesday after arriving in Jammu and Kashmir for a two-day visit, officials said.
The president arrived in Srinagar and was greeted by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. She was also accorded a guard of honour on her first visit to the Union Territory, the officials said.
The president then went to Badamibagh Cantonment, the headquarters of the Army’s 15 Corps, also referred to as the Chinar Corps, to pay tribute at the martyrs’ memorial.
The president will attend Kashmir University’s convocation ceremony.
Following Murmu’s arrival, Sinha stated on X, “Extended a warm welcome to Hon’ble President Smt Droupadi Murmu ji on her arrival at Srinagar airport.”
For the visit, security has been beefed up in Srinagar and surrounding areas.
Security personnel have been deployed around and around Kashmir University, including police and the Central Reserve Police Force.
Drones and CCTV cameras are among the latest technologies used to keep the city safe.
