New Delhi, 25th Aug: A 22-year-old woman, who was also two months pregnant, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Delhi on Monday, just four months after her marriage. The woman, identified as Komal, or Varsha, was discovered in an unconscious state at a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Her family alleges it is a case of dowry death.

According to Komal’s family, her husband, Aman, and in-laws subjected her to harassment over dowry demands. They also claimed that her husband regularly beat her. The couple had married on April 16 and lived in Delhi’s Badu Sarai area.

A case of dowry harassment has been registered based on the family’s complaint. Police have also recorded statements from the victim’s family and neighbors as part of their investigation.

This tragic incident comes in the wake of other dowry-related deaths in the region, highlighting a persistent issue.

Last week, in Greater Noida, a man allegedly set his wife, Nikki, on fire over dowry demands after nine years of marriage.

Horrifying videos of that incident showed Nikki being assaulted, with one clip showing her ablaze and limping down a staircase before she eventually succumbed to her severe burn injuries. The recurring nature of such incidents has underscored the need for stricter enforcement of anti-dowry laws and greater social awareness.
