Patna, 25th Oct: In a political twist amid the high-voltage Bihar election campaign, Pratima Kushwaha has quit the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). State BJP President Dilip Jaiswal formally welcomed her into the party on Friday.
After joining the BJP, Kushwaha said, “I seek the blessings of Chhathi Maiya for the NDA alliance to form the government so that Bihar’s wheel of development continues to move forward. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party is no longer the same. Some outsiders have entered, causing both the family and the party to fall apart.”
The defection comes as political campaigning in Bihar reaches a fever pitch, with all major parties pulling out all stops to attract voters.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp offensive against the Mahagathbandhan and the ‘Jungle Raj’ of the Lalu era. Today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to spearhead the NDA’s campaign with rallies in Khagaria, Munger, and Nalanda. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will address public gatherings in Buxar and Phulwari Sharif, while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav continues to hold a series of election rallies across the state.
As Bihar heads closer to polling day, the political temperature is soaring, with leaders from all camps intensifying their efforts to sway the electorate.
