WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump on Thursday appreciated the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live show as “great news for America” following controversial remarks made by the host regarding the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“Great news for America,” Trump wrote. “The ratings-challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!!”

ABC said it is pulling the comedian’s late-night talk show off the air “indefinitely” following his controversial comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk which sparked significant backlash.

The suspension came after a stern warning from the head of the Federal Communications Commission to Disney, urging them to address Kimmel’s remarks.

Nexstar Media Group, the major broadcast company that serves as a primary affiliate for ABC, confirmed that it would “preempt” Kimmel’s program in the wake of his remarks.

“The company’s owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ for the foreseeable future, beginning with tonight’s show,” Nexstar said in a press release.

“Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets,” it said.

Kimmel said many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk.” Commented on the reaction to Kirk’s assassination on his show,

Kimmel criticized how the right-wing narrative was shaping the response to Kirk’s murder, called it a spectacle.

“The MAGA gang is desperately trying to portray the kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of their own, while doing everything possible to score political points,” Kimmel remarked during his monologue.

Kimmel mocked the national mourning over Kirk’s death, including the lowering of flags to half-mast in his honor, and ridiculed President Trump’s reaction to the shooting. “This isn’t how an adult mourns the murder of someone he calls a friend,” Kimmel said. “This is how a four-year-old grieves a goldfish.”

President Trump has also targeted two other late-night hosts, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, and said they should be canceled too, calling them “two total losers.”

Kimmel’s contract is up at the end of next season, which ends in May 2026.

White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich on a social media post, wrote, “Welcome to Consequence Culture. Normal, common sense Americans are no longer taking the b and companies like ABC are finally willing to do the right and reasonable thing.”

Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed on September 10, while addressing a student gathering at Utah Valley University.

The 31-year-old, co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA and a close ally of President Donald Trump, died instantly after a single gunshot struck his neck during a live event.

On Sept. 16, Utah prosecutors charged Tyler Robinson, 22, with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.

Prosecutors have indicated they will seek the death penalty.

Kirk’s death has sent shockwaves through the nation where many mourn the loss of the prominent political activist.
