New Delhi, 21st Feb: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has expressed strong concern over recent attacks on Kashmiris across the country, stating that the “politics of hate” has damaged India’s social fabric.
In a letter addressed to Jammu & Kashmir Students Association President Nasir Khuehami, Gandhi said he was “deeply concerned by the recent spate of violent attacks on our Kashmiri brothers.”
“The politics of hate has not only corroded institutions but torn our social fabric,” he wrote.
Gandhi alleged that forces backed by the ruling establishment have targeted minorities and marginalised groups.
“Forces which are tacitly and overtly supported by the ruling dispensation have unleashed a reign of terror against minorities and marginalised groups,” the letter stated.
He assured the association that the Congress party would continue to condemn violence in all forms and stand with victims and their families. “I will continue to fight for their right to live with dignity,” he said.
Khuehami, who had earlier met Gandhi to discuss the issue, thanked him for his solidarity and called for equal protection of all citizens.
“At a time when many families feel vulnerable and anxious, such reassurance carries deep meaning. No one should feel like a stranger in their own country,” he said.
