New Delhi, 25th Nov. Police on Sunday placed Dasna temple priest Yati Narsinghanand under house arrest to prevent his participation in a conference organized by Muslim cleric Tauqeer Raza at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. Narsinghanand, along with his disciples, was stopped by authorities as they attempted to travel to Delhi, leading to a standoff where they began reciting the Hanuman Chalisa inside the temple premises.

An official confirmed that Narsinghanand and his followers had planned to attend the conference related to the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. ACP, Wave City, Lipi Nagayach, confirmed the action, stating that Narsinghanand and his disciples were restricted from leaving their premises early on Sunday when they were boarding vehicles to head to Delhi.

In a statement, Narsinghanand reacted strongly to the police action, accusing Muslim leaders like Tauqeer Raza, Maulana Madni, and Asaduddin Owaisi of taking advantage of Hindus’ “gentlemanliness” and using their large gatherings to intimidate Hindus. He asserted that if they could rally crowds to threaten Hindus, then Hindus too could assert their presence in front of such gatherings.

The controversy escalated when, on Friday, Narsinghanand had urged the Hindu community to recite the Hanuman Chalisa in response to the Muslim event, further intensifying the tension.

The police action and Narsinghanand’s response have sparked a debate on religious gatherings and their potential to disrupt communal harmony.
