Lucknow, 19th Feb. In a concerted effort to uphold the integrity of the recruitment process, Uttar Pradesh police have taken swift action, apprehending as many as 244 individuals suspected of involvement in cheating or planning to cheat in the police constable recruitment exam.
The arrests and detentions, spanning from February 15 to 6 pm on February 18, were announced in a statement issued by the state police headquarters in Lucknow. Notably, the police constable recruitment exam took place on February 17 and 18.
According to officials, the arrests and detentions were carried out by both district police and units of the Special Task Force (STF), leveraging local intelligence to identify and apprehend suspects.
Kumar further highlighted the preventive nature of the operations, noting that many arrests were made preemptively, thwarting attempts to compromise the integrity of the examination. “Most of the arrests were made before the accused could execute their nefarious plans of disturbing the sanctity of the exam by adopting unfair means,” he affirmed.
The crackdown is a stern warning to those attempting to undermine the merit-based selection process and underscores the resolve of law enforcement authorities to uphold the rule of law and ensure fairness in recruitment procedures.
