PM’s Principal Secretary P.K. Mishra Reviews Ahmedabad Plane Crash Response

Ahmedabad, 15th June: Dr. P. K. Mishra, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, visited Ahmedabad today to personally assess the situation after the recent plane crash. His visit reinforced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive for swift relief, a thorough investigation, and comprehensive support for victims and their families.

Site Visit and Hospital Interaction
Dr. Mishra first toured the accident site near B.J. Medical College, Meghaninagar. Here, senior officials from the State Government, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) briefed him on the crash sequence and immediate response.

At Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, Dr. Mishra met with bereaved families and observed the ongoing DNA sample matching. He directed authorities to provide full assistance, ensuring a smooth and compassionate process. He also spoke with injured victims, instructing hospital officials to prioritize their medical treatment and recovery.

Investigation and Coordination
Later, at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar, Dr. Mishra reviewed DNA sampling efforts. He stressed the urgent need to expedite identification while maintaining scientific accuracy.

He then chaired a high-level review meeting at Circuit House, Ahmedabad, discussing ongoing relief, rescue, and investigation efforts with top Central and State Government officials, AAIB, and AAI. Officials confirmed that the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) have been successfully located and secured. The AAIB has launched a detailed investigation, and the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting a parallel probe under international protocols, as the aircraft was American-made.

Dr. Mishra reiterated the Prime Minister’s commitment to providing all possible support to victims’ families and ensuring a coordinated response across all involved agencies. He was accompanied by PMO officials Tarun Kapoor, Advisor to the PM, and Mangesh Ghildiyal, Deputy Secretary, PMO.
