New Delhi, 3rd Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 72nd National Volleyball Tournament on January 4, 2026, at 12 noon through video conferencing. The inaugural ceremony will be held at the Dr Sampoornanand Sports Stadium in Varanasi.
The prestigious national tournament will be organised from January 4 to January 11 and will witness participation from across the country, with over 1,000 players competing as part of 58 teams representing various states and institutions.
Officials said the event is expected to display high standards of competition, sportsmanship and emerging talent in Indian volleyball, offering a major platform for young and professional players alike.
Hosting the tournament in Varanasi reflects the growing focus on strengthening sports infrastructure and encouraging athletic development in the city.
