PM Modi to Visit Varanasi on Oct 20 for Multiple Inaugurations Worth ₹6,100 Crore

PM to Unveil Major Development Projects, Including Eye Hospital and Airport Expansion, During Varanasi Visit

Varanasi, 19th Oct. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi on October 20, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various projects exceeding ₹6,100 crore. The visit includes the inauguration of RJ Sankara Eye Hospital at 2 PM, which will provide comprehensive eye care services.

Following this, at around 4:15 PM, the Prime Minister will announce the expansion of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, with a focus on a new runway and terminal building, costing approximately ₹2,870 crore. Additional foundations will be laid for civil enclaves at Agra (₹570 crore), Darbhanga (₹910 crore), and Bagdogra (₹1,550 crore).

PM Modi will also inaugurate new terminal buildings at Rewa Airport, Maa Mahamaya Airport in Ambikapur, and Sarsawa Airport, enhancing their collective capacity to handle over 2.3 crore passengers annually. The architectural designs of these facilities will reflect the region’s heritage.

Further emphasizing sports infrastructure, he will launch Phases 2 and 3 of the redevelopment of Varanasi Sports Complex under the Khelo India scheme and the Smart City Mission, with an investment of ₹210 crore. This project aims to create a modern sports facility that includes a National Centre of Excellence, athletes’ hostels, and various training venues.

In addition, tourism development works in Sarnath related to Buddhism will be inaugurated, featuring pedestrian-friendly streets, improved sewer lines, and a modern vending zone to support local handicraft vendors. The Prime Minister will also unveil initiatives aimed at enhancing the beauty and functionality of temples and parks in the area.

This visit highlights the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, connectivity, and tourism in Varanasi.
