Mumbai, 30th August. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Maharashtra on August 30, 2024. The visit will be marked by the launch of several key infrastructure projects in Palghar, including the foundation stone-laying of the Vadhvan Port, a massive project valued at approximately ₹76,000 crores. Additionally, the Prime Minister will address the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 in Mumbai, an event of global importance in the financial technology sector.
Vadhvan Port: A Major Boost to India’s Maritime Connectivity
At the CIDCO ground in Palghar, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project, which is poised to become one of India’s largest deep-water ports. Located near Dahanu town in Palghar district, this state-of-the-art maritime gateway is designed to accommodate ultra-large container ships and reduce transit times and costs, offering direct connectivity to international shipping routes. The port is expected to play a pivotal role in boosting India’s trade and economic growth.
The Vadhvan Port will be equipped with deep berths, efficient cargo handling facilities, and modern management systems. It is anticipated to create substantial employment opportunities, stimulate local businesses, and contribute to the overall economic development of the region. The project emphasizes sustainable development, aiming to minimize environmental impact and adhere to stringent ecological standards.
Fisheries Sector: Nationwide Development Projects
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 218 fisheries projects across the nation, with a combined investment of around ₹1,560 crores. These projects are expected to significantly enhance the infrastructure and productivity of India’s fisheries sector, creating over five lakh employment opportunities.
One of the key initiatives is the National Roll Out of the Vessel Communication and Support System, developed by ISRO at a cost of ₹360 crores. This system will install one lakh transponders on mechanized and motorized fishing vessels across 13 coastal states and Union Territories, enhancing two-way communication and safety for fishermen at sea.
Global Fintech Fest 2024: PM to Address Industry Leaders
In Mumbai, the Prime Minister will address a Special Session of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre. Organized by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Fintech Convergence Council, the event will feature over 800 speakers, including policymakers, regulators, senior bankers, and industry leaders from around the world. The GFF 2024 will showcase the latest innovations in the fintech landscape, with more than 350 sessions and the launch of over 20 thought leadership reports and white papers.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Maharashtra highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s infrastructure and fostering technological innovation, ensuring sustained economic growth and development.
