New Delhi, 27th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Japan from August 29-30, 2025, for his eighth visit to the country.

He is set to hold the 15th India-Japan annual summit with his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba, where they will review the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated the summit will provide an opportunity to take stock of progress in bilateral ties and exchange views on regional and global issues.

The visit will also launch new initiatives to build greater resilience in the relationship and address emerging opportunities and challenges.

The two leaders are expected to travel to Sendai via bullet train. They will explore Japan’s participation in future bullet train projects in India, building on the existing Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.

They will also upgrade the 2008 Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation and launch an economic security initiative focused on semiconductors, critical minerals, and AI.
