PM Modi to Lead 79th Independence Day Celebrations

New Delhi, 13th Aug: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the 79th Independence Day celebrations from the iconic Red Fort in Delhi on August 15, 2025. This year’s celebrations are themed “Naya Bharat,” reflecting the nation’s progress toward the government’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. The event will also be a platform to commemorate the success of “Operation Sindoor,” which will be a central part of the ceremony.

Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister will be received by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and other senior defense officials before inspecting the Guard of Honour. An Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard, commanded by Wing Commander AS Sekhon, will present a general salute. The Indian Air Force is the coordinating service for this year’s celebrations.

Following the inspection, the Prime Minister will proceed to the ramparts to hoist the National Flag. The unfurling of the Tricolour will be synchronized with a 21-Gun Salute performed by the 1721 Field Battery. Flower petals will be showered by two Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force. The ceremony will also feature the “Operation Sindoor” logo on a flag and in floral decorations.

After his address to the nation, the National Anthem will be sung by 2,500 cadets from the National Cadet Corps and ‘My Bharat’ volunteers, who will form the “Naya Bharat” logo on Gyanpath. Approximately 5,000 special guests from various walks of life, including winners of international sporting events, farmers, entrepreneurs, and Swachhta workers, have been invited to witness the celebrations.
