New Delhi, 26th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday unveil Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s fully indigenous 4G network—built to be 5G ready—and dedicate nearly 98,000 new mobile towers to the nation, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced.
Calling it “a historic step towards Viksit Bharat,” Scindia said the BSNL network runs on a C-DOT core, Tejas Networks’ Radio Access Network and TCS integration, making India self-reliant in advanced telecom technology. “No part of India will be left untouched,” he said, noting that the 4G towers already serve 22 million customers.

The rollout includes India’s 100% 4G saturation project under the Digital Bharat Nidhi, connecting around 29,000 villages and marking BSNL’s 25 years of service. “Students in Bihar, farmers in Punjab, soldiers in Kashmir and entrepreneurs in the Northeast will all benefit from seamless high-speed connectivity,” Scindia said.

Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal highlighted the country’s journey from skepticism to becoming a global telecom equipment hub, with indigenous technology ready for export. He credited youth-led innovation, industry collaboration and real-time monitoring for making India “a driver of global growth and digital inclusion.”
The swadeshi 4G stack is cloud-based, software-driven and upgradeable to 5G, reinforcing the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision while extending high-quality telecom services to 1.2 billion people.
