New Delhi, 6th Nov: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long commemoration of 150 years of India’s national song Vande Mataram on November 7, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

Marking the beginning of a nationwide celebration that will continue till November 7, 2026, the Prime Minister will also release a commemorative stamp and coin to honour the song that became the heartbeat of India’s freedom struggle and continues to inspire unity and patriotism.

As part of the launch, a mass singing of the full version of Vande Mataram will be held simultaneously across the country at around 9:50 AM. Citizens from all walks of life will join in public places to sing the song together, echoing the spirit of national pride that it embodies.

Written by Bankimchandra Chatterji during the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Navami on November 7, 1875, Vande Mataram first appeared in his literary journal Bangadarshan as part of the novel Anandamath. The song invokes the Motherland as a symbol of strength, prosperity, and divinity, and became a rallying cry for India’s freedom fighters.

The 150-year commemoration aims to rekindle the essence of Chatterji’s poetic vision, reminding every Indian of the values of unity, courage, and devotion that Vande Mataram stands for.
