New Delhi, 6th March: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth around ₹33,500 crore in Delhi on March 8, according to an official statement.

The Prime Minister will also address a gathering during the programme. Prior to the event, he will visit GPRA Type-5 quarters in Sarojini Nagar and hand over keys to women allottees.

A major highlight of the event will be the inauguration and foundation laying of Delhi Metro projects worth about ₹18,300 crore.

Modi will inaugurate two new metro corridors — the Majlis Park–Maujpur Babarpur corridor on the Pink Line, spanning about 12.3 km, and the Deepali Chowk–Majlis Park corridor on the Magenta Line, covering around 9.9 km.

The new corridors are expected to improve connectivity for several areas including Burari, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa and Majlis Park.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for three new corridors under Phase V-A of the Delhi Metro, covering a total route length of about 16.10 km.

These include the R.K. Ashram Marg–Indraprastha corridor, Aerocity–Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 corridor, and Tughlakabad–Kalindi Kunj corridor. The new lines are expected to enhance connectivity across key parts of the national capital and improve travel links between Noida, South Delhi and the airport.

In addition, Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth ₹15,200 crore under the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Redevelopment Plan.

Spread across locations such as Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Sriniwaspuri, the redevelopment initiative aims to modernise government housing colonies and create improved infrastructure for government employees and administrative offices.

The projects are being implemented through a self-sustaining financial model, under which a limited portion of project land is monetised for commercial and residential development. The revenue generated is used to fund the redevelopment without burdening the public exchequer.

Under the redevelopment plan, over 9,350 modern flats for government employees will be constructed along with nearly 48 lakh square feet of office space, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and infrastructure in the national capital.
