New Delhi, 26th March: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on March 28 to inaugurate Phase I of the Noida International Airport at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The Prime Minister will first undertake a walkthrough of the terminal building before formally inaugurating the airport and addressing a public gathering.

Developed at an investment of around ₹11,200 crore under a public-private partnership model, the Noida International Airport is set to become a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region (NCR). It will function as the second international airport for Delhi-NCR, complementing the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport and easing congestion.

In its initial phase, the airport will have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers per annum, with plans to scale up to 70 million passengers annually in the future.

The airport features a 3,900-metre runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft and is equipped with advanced navigation systems to enable all-weather, round-the-clock operations.

A key highlight of the project is its integrated multi-modal transport system, connecting road, rail, metro and regional transit networks to ensure seamless accessibility.

The airport also includes a multi-modal cargo hub with an initial capacity to handle over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, expandable to around 18 lakh metric tonnes, along with a dedicated maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.

Designed as a sustainable infrastructure project, the airport aims to operate as a net-zero emissions facility, combining modern technology with architectural elements inspired by Indian heritage.

Officials said the project marks a major step towards positioning India as a global aviation hub while strengthening regional connectivity and economic growth.
