New Delhi, 27th Nov: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the 60th edition of the All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police on November 29–30 at the Indian Institute of Management, Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The three-day conference, being held from November 28 to 30, aims to review the progress made on major policing challenges and outline a forward-looking strategy for building a ‘Surakshit Bharat’ aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. This year’s theme is ‘Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions’.
Senior police and security leaders will deliberate on key issues including Left Wing Extremism, counter-terrorism, disaster management, women’s safety, and the use of forensic science and artificial intelligence in policing. During the event, the Prime Minister will also confer the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service.
The conference serves as an important platform for senior officials to exchange views on operational challenges, infrastructure needs, welfare concerns, and best practices in maintaining law and order and addressing internal security threats.
Prime Minister Modi has shown sustained interest in the annual conference, promoting candid discussions and encouraging innovative ideas for modern policing. Business sessions, break-out interactions, and thematic discussions will allow officers to present their perspectives directly to the Prime Minister.
Since 2014, the conference has evolved significantly, with venues rotating across the country. It has previously been held in locations such as Guwahati, Rann of Kachchh, Hyderabad, Tekanpur, the Statue of Unity, Pune, Lucknow, New Delhi, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar. This year, Raipur continues the tradition of hosting the high-level meet.
The conference will be attended by the Union Home Minister, National Security Adviser, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, DGPs of all States and UTs, and heads of Central Police Organisations. To infuse innovative ideas, DIGs, SP-rank officers, and heads of Home Departments of States and UTs will also participate physically this year.
