New Delhi, 5th Feb: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed gratitude to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake for inaugurating the Exposition of the Holy Devnimori Relics at Gangaramaya Temple.
Recalling his visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, the Prime Minister said it was then decided that the revered relics would be brought to Sri Lanka, enabling devotees to pay their respects. He described the exposition as a spiritually significant moment that strengthens cultural and religious bonds between the two nations.
PM Modi highlighted that India and Sri Lanka are bound by centuries-old civilisational and spiritual ties, rooted deeply in Buddhism and cultural exchange. He said the presence of the Holy Devnimori Relics in Sri Lanka stands as a testament to this enduring relationship.
Expressing hope for the future, the Prime Minister said Lord Buddha’s timeless message of compassion, peace and harmony should continue to guide humanity and foster unity across borders.
In a post on X, PM Modi conveyed his appreciation to President Dissanayake and reiterated India’s commitment to nurturing shared spiritual and cultural heritage with Sri Lanka.
