Palakkad, 29th March: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on both the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), alleging that the two alliances have alternated in power while “looting” Kerala.
Addressing a high-energy rally ahead of the April 9 polls, Modi asserted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is emerging as the “real A-team” in the state and expressed confidence that it would form the next government.
“In Kerala, Team BJP and Team NDA are to form the government… we will leave no stone unturned in serving Kerala,” he said, claiming a visible shift in the political mood.
The Prime Minister said the NDA is witnessing growing acceptance across sections of society, including youth, women and farmers, signalling a potential breakthrough for the BJP in a state where it has historically struggled electorally.
Targeting both LDF and UDF, Modi alleged a “practical understanding” between the two alliances. “For a few years the LDF runs the government and fills its pockets, and after that the UDF comes and continues the loot,” he said.
He also hit out at both fronts for accusing each other of being the BJP’s “B-team,” saying such claims only reinforce that the BJP is the main alternative.
The Prime Minister further alleged that successive governments led by the Left and the Congress have failed to act against corruption and scams. He said an NDA government would investigate alleged irregularities and ensure accountability.
Referring to the Left government’s tenure, Modi claimed that Kerala’s public debt has crossed ₹5 lakh crore and has sharply increased over the past decade, questioning its utilisation.
Highlighting central support, he said the state has received higher financial assistance under the NDA government compared to previous regimes.
Focusing on local development, Modi cited projects in Palakkad, including the establishment of an IIT, infrastructure upgrades and plans for an industrial hub. He also urged voters to support BJP candidate Shobha Surendran.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the NDA’s push for women-led development, referring to initiatives in financial inclusion, healthcare and housing, as well as the Nari Shakti Vandan Act.
