Ayodhya, 22nd Jan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed his appreciation today by showering flower petals on the workers involved in the construction of the Ayodhya temple. This gesture came after the completion of the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol.

Dressed in a cream kurta pajama, PM Modi took petals from a wicker basket and sprinkled them on the construction team.

PM Modi led the rituals at the grand temple, which was witnessed by politicians, businessmen, sports and media stars, as well as millions of people across the country.

In his address after the ceremony, PM Modi said, “Our Ram has come,” referring to the inauguration of the temple. The temple is expected to open to the public on Tuesday.

Before placing flower petals at the deity’s feet, PM Modi chanted religious verses, bowed before it, and circled a sacred flame. Meanwhile, a military helicopter showered petals on the temple from outside.

At the conclusion of the rituals, PM Modi prostrated himself before the idol, which depicts the child Ram.

During the rituals, traditional clarinets played devotional music for the 51-inch tall, black stone deity, representing the god-king as a five-year-old child.

This event has sparked religious fervor across India, leading many states to declare a holiday on Monday. Stock markets were closed, and homes and businesses were illuminated, as PM Modi called for the event to be celebrated like another Diwali.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir has been constructed in the traditional Nagara style, with dimensions of 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. It is supported by 392 pillars and has 44 doors.

The temple’s pillars and walls feature intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities.

The lead-up to the consecration ceremony, which coincides with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, was marked by conflicts between the ruling BJP and the Opposition.

Although top Opposition leaders skipped the event, labeling it an RSS-BJP event, Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh, son of state Congress chief Pratibha Singh, attended the ceremony.
