New Delhi, 21th Jan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a new pitch on Sunday to promote domestic tourism in the wake of the social media outcry and the dramatic deterioration in relations with the Maldives due to posts made viral by the junior ministers of that nation criticizing his travel to Lakshadweep.
PM Modi recently demanded that the Indian island group be promoted as a beach tourism attraction while on layover in Lakshadweep. During the Khodaldham Trust Cancer Hospital’s foundation stone-laying ceremony in Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi called on his fellow citizens to make nine serious promises, one of which was to increase tourism in the nation.
“First, consider your own nation. Take whatever action you choose for your nation first. When making travel plans, research popular tourist destinations in your country and think about taking your loved ones there. PM Modi urged everyone to “do your part to boost tourism in India.”
Several junior ministers and government officials in the Maldives made derogatory and disgusting statements about Prime Minister Modi, ridiculing him and his call to promote Lakshadweep as a beach tourism destination. The issue escalated into a significant diplomatic dispute, prompting New Delhi to strongly object to the viral posts and call the Mandivian envoy to the South Block.
Additionally, the hashtag “#BoycottMaldives” gained popularity on social media, sparking a wave of cancellations of planned trips and visits to the beautiful island nation.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi again urged people to conserve water and raise awareness of the issue.
Go from hamlet to hamlet educating folks about digital transactions. He continued, “I would also encourage all of my fellow citizens to work toward making their towns, cities, and villages the cleanest in the nation. PM Modi reiterated his “Vocal for Local” appeal, saying, “Encourage locally produced goods and educate farmers about natural farming.” Add items made from millet to your regular diet. I also ask that everyone accept athletics as a way of life. Above all, abstain from drug use and addiction of any kind,” Prime Minister Modi advised.
Along the lines of “Make in India,” he also promoted “Wed in India,” urging his fellow countrymen to host weddings within the nation rather than abroad.
Is it required for marriages to take place abroad? Can’t we have these events here in our nation? Every time we have a destination wedding, our money ends up in someone else’s bank account. It is best to avoid the trend of having wedding ceremonies held elsewhere. This is why I call on all of you to wed in India,” PM Modi said
