Kolkata/New Delhi, 15th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Kolkata, calling for greater jointness, self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) and innovation to sharpen the operational readiness of India’s Armed Forces.

‘Year of Reforms – Transformation for the Future’
Held once every two years, the CCC is the apex forum where the nation’s top civilian and military leadership chart the future of defence preparedness. This year’s theme—“Year of Reforms – Transformation for the Future”—aligns with ongoing modernisation efforts.

Commends Forces, Reviews Readiness
The Prime Minister lauded the Armed Forces for the success of Operation Sindoor, their role in nation-building, anti-piracy missions, evacuation of Indian citizens from conflict zones, and providing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) to friendly nations.

Briefed on operational readiness in the “new normal” post-Operation Sindoor and on the future of warfare shaped by emerging technologies, Modi reviewed reforms undertaken in the past two years and plans for the next phase.

Call for Swift Implementation
Underscoring 2025 as a “year of reforms” in defence, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Defence to swiftly implement measures for deeper integration across the Army, Navy and Air Force, strengthen indigenous defence production, and foster innovation to tackle evolving security challenges.

Two-Day Strategic Review
Over the next two days, the conference will conduct a holistic review of structural, administrative and operational matters, evaluate preparedness amid global uncertainties, and draw a roadmap to implement the Prime Minister’s vision for a future-ready military.
