London, 24th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (July 24, 2025) expressed deep gratitude to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, stating that a “new history” is being forged between India and the UK at Chequers. Their meeting marks the third interaction between the two leaders in a year, which PM Modi described as highly significant, emphasizing India and the UK as “natural partners.”
Speaking at the occasion, PM Modi highlighted the day as “historic” for bilateral relations, announcing the conclusion of a mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and a Double Contribution Convention. He asserted that these agreements lay a strong foundation for future generations in both countries, opening a new chapter in trade and industry. The Prime Minister believes these initiatives will create numerous opportunities for Indian farmers, MSMEs, and youth.
Recognizing the 21st century as a technology-driven era, PM Modi stressed that the collaboration of skilled youth from India and the UK will significantly contribute to building a new world. He noted that the combined talent and innovation of skilled youth from both nations would “provide a great guarantee of development for the world,” boosting employment and skilled mobility. This collaboration is also expected to inject new momentum and energy into the ‘Vision 2035’ comprehensive strategic partnership.
