New Delhi, 6th July. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remembered the contributions of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and has paid rich tributes to him on his Jayanti.

“Tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his Jayanti. He is widely respected for his contribution to India’s development particularly in sectors such as commerce and industry. He was also known for his scholarly nature and intellectual prowess,” PM Modi tweeted.

Born in Kolkata in 1901, Mookerjee was well-known for his support of Hindu rights and his nationalist beliefs. In 1950, he left the Cabinet of then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru after a disagreement with him. He served as the president of the Hindu Mahasabha before working with the RSS to found the Jana Sangh, the forerunner of the BJP.
