New Delhi, 10th Dec: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to all those who laid down their lives during the historic Assam Movement, marking the observance of Swahid Diwas. He described the movement as a defining chapter in India’s democratic and cultural journey, one that continues to inspire generations.
Modi said the sacrifices made during the Assam Movement occupy a “prime place” in the nation’s history and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to realizing the aspirations of those who fought for the state’s identity and rights.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Today, on Swahid Diwas, we recall the valour of all those who were a part of the Assam Movement. The Movement will always have a prime place in our history. We reiterate our commitment to fulfilling the dreams of those who participated in the Assam Movement, notably the strengthening of Assam’s culture and the all-round progress of the state.”
