PM Modi Pays Homage to Former Tamil Nadu CM Kamaraj on his Jayanti

New Delhi, 15th July. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to Thiru K. Kamaraj on his Jayanti.

“I pay homage to Thiru K. Kamaraj on his Jayanti. A stalwart who devoted his life to India’s development, his emphasis on social empowerment is a guiding force for us all. We reiterate our commitment to fulfilling his vision towards poverty alleviation and public welfare,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

Kamaraj, who was born in Tamil Nadu in 1903, ascended to become a renowned Congress leader, and his stint as chief minister of Madras State, afterwards renamed Tamil Nadu, is remembered for its emphasis on social welfare, particularly education.

He is recognized for introducing the mid-day meal program to increase school attendance among the disadvantaged.
