New Delhi, 30th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the passing away of veteran BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, who died at the age of 93 at AIIMS, Delhi.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister paid tribute, stating, “Shri Vijay Kumar Malhotra Ji distinguished himself as an outstanding leader, who had a very good understanding of people’s issues. He played a vital role in strengthening our Party in Delhi. He is also remembered for his Parliamentary interventions. Pained by his passing away. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Malhotra, a stalwart of Delhi politics, was the first president of the BJP’s Delhi unit and represented the city as both MLA and MP. Known for his sharp parliamentary interventions, he also famously defeated former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in the 1999 Lok Sabha elections from South Delhi.

Widely respected across party lines, Malhotra’s political journey spanned decades, making him one of the most influential figures in shaping the BJP’s base in the national capital.
