Rajkot, 11th Jan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Kutch and Saurashtra in Rajkot, projecting the region as a powerful engine of India’s growth and reaffirming that India is the world’s fastest-growing large economy.
Addressing a packed gathering of global investors, diplomats and industry leaders, the Prime Minister said India is moving ahead with “remarkable certainty” despite global turbulence, driven by political stability, policy continuity and rising purchasing power of the neo-middle class.
Calling India’s growth fact sheet a success story of the “Reform-Perform-Transform” mantra, the Prime Minister highlighted achievements ranging from record agricultural output and digital leadership through UPI, to becoming a global hub for startups, solar power, metro networks, aviation and semiconductor manufacturing.
He described Saurashtra and Kutch as anchor regions of Atmanirbhar Bharat, underlining their transformation from drought- and disaster-prone zones into major manufacturing, renewable energy, logistics and port-led development hubs. Rajkot alone, he said, hosts over 2.5 lakh MSMEs producing everything from precision tools to aerospace and defence components.
The Prime Minister highlighted Alang as the world’s largest ship-breaking yard, Morbi as a global tile manufacturing hub, and Dholera as India’s future semiconductor capital. He also showcased Kutch as the home of the world’s largest hybrid renewable energy park and a key centre for green hydrogen and battery storage.
Stressing that an industry-ready workforce is today’s biggest requirement, Shri Modi pointed to Gujarat’s robust skilling and education ecosystem, including Kaushalya Skill University, National Defence University and Gatishakti University, assuring investors of a steady pipeline of trained talent.
Major industry leaders announced fresh investments. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani committed ₹7 lakh crore in Gujarat over five years, while Adani Group Managing Director Karan Adani announced ₹1.5 lakh crore investment in Kutch. Jyoti CNC Automation and Welspun Group also outlined large-scale expansion plans.
Reaffirming that today’s India is rapidly moving towards becoming a developed nation, the Prime Minister said the “Reform Express” will continue with next-generation reforms in taxation, labour, insurance, nuclear energy and digital innovation.
He concluded by urging investors to fully leverage the immense potential of Saurashtra–Kutch, assuring that every rupee invested would deliver strong returns while accelerating Gujarat’s development and India’s progress towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
