In a significant move towards promoting solar power and sustainable development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.’ This initiative aims to light one crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.

During the announcement, PM Modi highlighted that the project would require an investment exceeding ₹75,000 crore. “In order to further sustainable development and people’s well-being, we are launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana,” he stated.

The Prime Minister emphasized the scheme’s commitment to alleviating the financial burden on citizens, with substantive subsidies directly deposited into people’s bank accounts and heavily concessional bank loans provided by the central government.

PM Modi underscored the integration of all stakeholders into a National Online Portal to streamline operations. Additionally, he noted the incentivization of urban local bodies and panchayats to promote rooftop solar systems in their respective areas.

“The scheme will not only contribute to more income, lower power bills, and employment generation but also foster sustainable progress,” PM Modi asserted.

He urged all residential consumers, particularly the youth, to support the PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana by registering at https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
