PM Modi Invites Singaporean Firms to SEMICON INDIA

Singapore, 5th Sept. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong visited AEM, a leading company in the semiconductor and electronics sector in Singapore, to discuss advancements and collaborations in the global semiconductor value chain.

During the visit, AEM executives briefed the leaders on their operations, role in the semiconductor industry, and their plans for expanding in India. The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association also presented insights into Singapore’s semiconductor ecosystem and explored opportunities for collaboration with India.

Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to Singaporean semiconductor companies to participate in the SEMICON INDIA exhibition, scheduled for September 11-13, 2024, in Greater Noida.

The visit included discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in advanced manufacturing with a focus on semiconductors. Both nations agreed to include this sector as a key pillar in their bilateral cooperation framework. Additionally, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the India-Singapore Semiconductor Ecosystem Partnership.

The leaders also interacted with Indian interns from Odisha’s World Skill Center, undergoing training in Singapore, and Singaporean interns who had previously visited India under the CII-Enterprise Singapore India Ready Talent Programme. They also met Indian engineers working at AEM.

This visit highlights the commitment of both countries to deepen their collaboration in the semiconductor industry. Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Wong for his partnership in this significant visit.
