Nava Raipur, 1st Nov: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new building of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly at Nava Raipur today, marking a “golden beginning” in the state’s journey of development and democracy. The event coincided with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Chhattisgarh’s formation.
Calling it a moment of deep emotional connection, the Prime Minister said he had witnessed every phase of the state’s transformation since its creation in 2000. “Today, Chhattisgarh stands at a new pinnacle of its aspirations; on this proud occasion, I pay tribute to the visionary and compassionate leader whose foresight led to the creation of this state — Bharat Ratna, the revered Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji,” Modi said, adding that Vajpayee’s dream of a confident and prosperous Chhattisgarh was now becoming a reality.
The Prime Minister said that the new Assembly is not just a structure but a “vibrant centre for shaping the destiny of Chhattisgarh.” He described every pillar of the building as a symbol of transparency and every corridor as a reminder of accountability.
Highlighting the architectural and cultural significance of the new complex, Modi noted that it reflects Chhattisgarh’s rich traditions through Bastar art and inscriptions inspired by the teachings of Guru Ghasidas, Mata Shabari, and Sant Kabir. He added that the design embodies India’s philosophy of “Nara Seva, Narayan Seva” as taught by Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya.
Reiterating his vision of inclusive growth, Modi said, “Today, the entire nation is moving forward by embracing both heritage and development together.” He lauded the progress achieved in Chhattisgarh over the last 25 years, saying the state had moved from being known for Naxalism and backwardness to becoming a symbol of peace, prosperity, and stability.
“India is now moving towards the eradication of Naxalism and Maoist terrorism,” he declared, citing recent security successes such as Operation Sindoor. He added that the country’s democratic institutions were becoming stronger as India entered its “Amrit Year” — celebrating 75 years of the Constitution.
The Prime Minister urged legislators to use the Assembly as a platform for people-centric policymaking. “Governance should neither be absent nor excessive; balance is the true formula for rapid progress,” he said.
Describing the new Vidhansabha as a “temple of democracy,” Modi called upon representatives to dedicate themselves to public service and good governance, ensuring every law and decision benefits farmers, youth, women, and marginalized sections.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, and Union Minister Tokan Sahu, among others.
Built on a green concept, the new Assembly complex is fully solar-powered and equipped with a rainwater harvesting system, symbolizing sustainability and modernity in governance.
